TALLADEGA COUNTY, Ala. – High school baseball carries a great deal of weight this week as the playoffs start soon and many spots and area titles are still up for grabs.
The Sylacauga Aggies look to continue their long line of playoff appearances as they have a three game series with Clay Central this week, but Tuesday’s game one of that series has been postponed.
It will certainly be a playoff atmosphere with these two old rivals. Jay Brooks’s team must win the first two of that series to be able to play in the first round. Thursday will probably be the date for the first pitch but that has not been determined yet.
The Childersburg Tigers are in the driver’s seat, but they still have work to do. The Tigers hold the tiebreaker over Dadeville from play last week and now will face Beulah on the road on Thursday with the final two games of that series taking place at Garland Justice Field on Friday.
If Coach Donahoo’s cats can win two of three from Beulah, they will capture an area title.
As for B.B. Comer and Fayetteville, the Tigers will probably not be in the postseason, but the Wolves can get in with two wins over B.B. Comer. Those games will take place Friday at B.B. Comer with first pitch at 4:30 p.m.
Games two and three at Fayetteville on Saturday will start at 12:00 p.m.
