SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Looking for a new restaurant in the Sylacauga area? Coming this March, Pizza and Pint is expected to open its doors. Located in the heart of downtown Sylacauga on Broadway Avenue, Pizza and Pint will be serving pizza with a small sandwich collection and salad bar. During lunch hours, customers will be able to purchase pizza by the slice.
Pizza and Pint will have a bar with a 28 tap selection of craft and domestic beverages. Pizza and Pint is currently awaiting approval for an on-and-off-premise beer license to sell growlers for customers to bring home with take-out orders.
To add a unique flare to the venue atmosphere, elements from the building’s previous uses were incorporated into the design. With the former location being a jewelry store, the old jewelry safe was converted to a beer cooler. The bar was built around the former jewelry safe and now beer cooler in a semi-circular shape. Multiple planks of wood were missing from the ceiling, so all wood was removed, exposing ceiling joists. The wood removed was then placed on restaurant walls. To create outdoor seating, the front wall of the building was set back for a porch.
Being involved in the remodeling and opening of many Sylacauga restaurants and businesses, like Heavenly Grounds, Fermenter’s Market, and Marble City TapRoom, owners Allen and Julie Sanders are no rookies to small business development in Sylacauga. Allen and Julie Sanders have a passion for remodeling old buildings and opening business to add jobs, foot traffic, and other economic development to downtown Sylacauga. Sanders often opens businesses then hands them off once established, as is the plan for Pizza and Pint. Sanders also offers small business seminars at the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce. Offered to any potential small business concept, the seminars lay the foundations of successfully opening small business and avoiding expensive mistakes or delays. The seminars are offered free of charge.
In addition to Pizza and Pint, Sanders says they have several projects they are waiting to start in the downtown area. Trailwares, an outdoor clothing store, is also set to open this spring. A to-be-determined retail store in the old Stanton’s building will then follow.
Pizza and Pints is tentatively scheduled to open March 1, 2017, at 113 N Broadway Ave.
