Piggly Wiggly Childersburg hosts fifth annual cookout benefitting MDA

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Piggly Wiggly in Childersburg is hosting its fifth annual cookout benefitting the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Each year, Piggy Wiggly Childersburg raises thousands of dollars through its annual cookout and shamrock contest to help those battling muscular dystrophy.

“We do this every year and we always have a great turnout,” said store manager, Sammy Kelley. “It is fun for our employees who donate their time and we always raise nearly $650 just through the cookout benefitting the Muscular Dystrophy Association.”

Piggly Wiggly Childersburg is inviting the community to come ‘pig out’ on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All proceeds from the cookout and shamrock contest will be sent to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to benefit those who are battling muscular dystrophy.

Muscular dystrophy is a group of genetic diseases that cause progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass. The Muscular Dystrophy Association provides funding for research and medical and community services for those battling muscular dystrophy.
