SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Monday afternoon, Brayden Beutler signed to play soccer at Huntingdon College.

Beutler has played soccer since he was four years old, but started playing at Sylacauga in 7th Grade. He started playing goalie in 8th Grade. “These guys have turned into family, not just a team. I’m going to miss playing with them. It will be a lot different playing with a different group that I’ve been with since 7th Grade.”

He decided to play at the next level when the season started, and thought about how much he would miss playing soccer after his senior season ended. Beutler is starting at Huntingdon with his major undecided, but plans to go into Business Administration.

His senior season consisted of 140 saves and 8 shutouts. It was his second year starting, and he played every game unless the coaches were resting him. Beutler was named to the All-County team during the All-County Tournament in February, was named Player of the Week after beating Childersburg game, named to the All-County Team by the county coaches, and was selected as one of two keepers for the 4A/5A All-State Team. He was also named MVP of his team and has been a captain for the Aggies this season.

“I am losing a good kid that I have coached since 7th Grade,” said Head Coach Billy Faircloth. “He stayed out of trouble and did his schoolwork. He’s laid back and a silent leader. He will do well academically and will excel at soccer at Huntingdon.”

Coach Faircloth was excited for Beutler, when the opportunity came after fellow Aggie, Bennett Wilkinson, also signed to play at Huntingdon. “I’m losing 12 seniors and that group of guys is just like a tight knit family. I’m going to miss them.”
