SYLACAUGA, Ala. — At 7:00 a.m., American Legion post 45 along with the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 945 honored those who sacrificed their lives for our country, and a ceremony followed at the War Memorial at the Chamber of Commerce.

Flags at Legion Hall and the Chamber were lowered to half staff, as should all others until noon today.

Memorial Day is a federal and state holiday for remembering those who died while serving in America’s armed forces.
