CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The Childersburg Police Department will be riding in style as the department recently received new police vehicles.
Chief Rick McClelland said his department is very happy to have the new cars. “These are the first ones we’ve been able to buy in 11 years, and they are brand new ones.”
The cars are fully equipped with the newest technology and radar units. They all have inboard computers, which will allow the officers to have direct access to dispatch and run tags inside the vehicles.
The City of Childersburg purchased the new cars through one of the local banks. Chief McClelland said the Police Department has very good relationships with the banks in Childersburg, and they were able to get a great rate on their new cars.
There are five new cars in total. The Police Department now has a new Ford Explorer SUV, a Ford F-150, and three new Ford Tauruses.
