SYLACAUGA, Ala. – When deciding where to launch her own pharmacy, Hang Dinh believed Sylacauga was the place to be.

Originally from Vietnam, she moved to Birmingham in 2000 and worked in Sylacauga for over a decade at Rite-Aid.

Dinh, the owner of Sylacauga Pharmacy, considered opening her new practice in Birmingham or Talladega, but a friend convinced her to stay in the area she worked in for the last 13 years.

“People over here are very friendly and easy to work with,” Dinh said. “More importantly, I know a lot of doctors around the area, so it is easy to work with the doctors and take care of the patients.”

“I have worked in Sylacauga for about 13 years, and I know more of the patients,” Dinh said. “People kind of missed me, and, even when I left, people still found me by cell phone, texting or something. So, I will just come back and help.”

Dinh said one of the challenges of opening her business has been being her own boss. Nonetheless, she said things are going well at her new location inside the Piggly Wiggly on Hwy. 21.

When asked about what is most rewarding regarding pharmacy, Dinh said it was about helping people and seeing them smile.

“People are very friendly and easy to take care of,” Dinh said. “They are more understanding than a lot of different areas.”

Sylacauga Pharmacy is located at 1244 Talladega Hwy and can be contacted at 256-208-9595.
