SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce welcomed Pelican’s SnoBalls to Sylacauga with a ribbon-cutting ceremony which was held last Friday, Aug. 26.
Located at 1293 Talladega Hwy across the street from KFC and American Deli, Pelican’s SnoBalls is a gourmet shaved ice dessert business.
The shop offers not only a wide variety of flavors and toppings for the delicious shaved ice treat, but also a play area for children that includes a giant chalkboard to draw on, a cornhole board, a Connect Four game, and much more.
Pelican’s enjoyed a successful soft opening in July, and now franchise owner Any Cox is thrilled with the reception his business has gotten from the Sylacauga community.
“We appreciate the people of Sylacauga because they care about us,” Cox said. “They ask, ‘Are you OK, do you need anything?’ and that means the world to us. We try to build those relationships with everyone who comes in, and that’s us.”
Laura Strickland, Executive Director of the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce, expressed how great it is to see yet another new business open its doors in town as well as her admiration for all the hard work it takes to open a new business.
“It means a lot to us when people pick Sylacauga as the location to open a business and recognize the opportunities and the great characteristics of our community,” said Strickland.
Pelican’s in Sylacauga currently has a staff of 12, but Cox noted that he is looking to employ more applicants having received over 30 submissions for extra staffing.
Pelican’s SnoBalls is open every day of the week from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
