One dead in Thursday shooting; SPD continues to search for answers

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The victim involved in a shooting in Sylacauga on Thursday has died.

SPD identified the victim as 29-year-old Shaquan Devon Jackson of Arnold Circle in Sylacauga.

The shooting happened at N. Nashville Avenue between E. 3rd Street and E. 4th Street.  On arrival officers located Jackson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. CPR was started by good-samaritans and officers on the scene.  Sylacauga Ambulance arrived and quickly transported the victim to CVMC Emergency Department. Jackson was transferred to UAB after undergoing surgery at CVMC to stabilize him enough for the flight.  Jackson was transported to UAB via Life Saver. He was pronounced deceased at UAB.

Sylacauga Police Department Investigations is working diligently to generate a suspect and uncover the motive behind the shooting.  SPD is asking for anyone with information, please come forward and speak to investigators that are working this case.  SPD believes that someone in that area saw what happened and knows why.
