CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Old Town Liquor celebrated its grand opening last Friday, May 31, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Greater Coosa Valley Chamber of Commerce.
The new store, located off of Hwy 280, is operated by local businessman Andy Patel, who also owns the neighboring Subway.
Patel expressed his enthusiasm about the opening, highlighting the convenience the store brings to the community.
“People tell me all the time that they need to be drive all the way to Birmingham to get [their favorite] product,” Patel noted. “Now, I am next door.”
The grand opening featured a wine-tasting setup, drawing those eager to explore the store’s offerings. Old Town Liquor boasts a wide selection of products, including craft beers, a variety of bourbons, moonshine, cigars, and even a mixed-drink slushie machine.
Patel manages both businesses himself, alternating his time between the two. He mentioned potential discounts for Subway customers at Old Town Liquor and vice versa, although no special offers are available yet.
The ceremony was attended by Patel’s family, including his parents, who helped cut the ribbon. The attendance of Patel’s mother, in particular, was special for him.
“She’s so nice to me, and she’s always there for me,” said Patel
Patel also credited Chamber President John-Mark Freeman and Childersburg Mayor Ken Wesson for their support, emphasizing the collaborative effort in bringing Patel’s vision to life.
Old Town Liquor is open from 9:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 12:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Sundays.
