OAK GROVE, Ala. – The Oak Grove Town Council handled a lot of important business on Tuesday night, Dec. 10, and a 2.5 percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) pay raise for town employees led the way.
In other New Business, Angela Smith was approved by the Council to join the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
A proposed new NFIP Flood Insurance ordinance got its second reading and was unanimously approved. It does not place any restrictions or financial burdens on the town nor its citizens. Passage opens the way for property owners to get flood insurance if they want or need it.
The Council designated a used tire balancer as surplus and authorized it for disposal, sold in “as is” condition.
Resolution 620 was approved for the 2026 renewal of the Rural Transportation 5311 program. It authorized Mayor Tony White to execute any and all necessary documents, while approving $41,368 in local matching funds.
With a new digital sign mounted on the front of the Town Hall building, all that is left is to make it operational is to run a dedicated power line to it. The Town Council appropriated $2,092.35 to have that work performed.
Resolution 621 was approved, requesting an Attorney General’s opinion on a public records request from an out-of-state company from an Iowa IP address. Concern was expressed as to the town’s obligation to provide the information in light of the company’s resale of information, an act forbidden by law in Alabama.
