OAK GROVE, Ala.- The town of Oak Grove accepted five applications for volunteer firefighters and approved spending $1,500 on firetruck parts and labor during a regular meeting held Feb. 8.

According to town clerk Robin Caylor, approval is pending results of background checks which are required for each applicant.

The council also approved actions necessary to purchase four LED stop signs to be placed at the intersection of Forest Glen Rd. and Gantts Junction Rd. and the intersection of Odens Mill Road and Gantts Junction Rd.

Caylor said the council voted to continue its review of updated items to be included in the revised Oak Grove employee handbook, and will vote on those at the next meeting.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for March 8 at 6:00 p.m. at Oak Grove town hall.
