SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Nichols-Lawson Middle School was selected as a U.S. News Best Middle School. NLMS ranked 108 out of 921 middle schools in Alabama, placing it in the top 12 percent in the state.
U.S. News and World Report recently released their 2024 Best Middle Schools Rankings, evaluating nearly 18,000 schools at the national, state, and local levels.
Schools are ranked on their performance on state-required testing and how well they prepare students for high school.
“Our students are continually striving for excellence, and it takes everyone’s best to see an improvement like this one. Our goal for the upcoming school year is to continue climbing and reach the top ten percent of middle schools in the state,” Sylacauga City Schools Superintendent Dr. Michele Eller said.
