SYLACAUGA, Ala. – In the last few months, many driving by The Home Depot on Hwy. 280 have noticed construction nearby. The new building will be a new home for Dollar Tree, and the low-cost retail chain is at the midway point of finishing the new facility just across from its current location near Walmart in Payton Park.
Store manager Angela Mathews told SylacaugaNews.com the new facility will be five times larger than the current store at just under 10,000 square feet, making room for additional items such as frozen and refrigerated products including eggs, milk, and even steaks — yes, steaks — for $1. The new store will also accept EBT cards.
“Dollar Tree will now send an interior build-out company,” said builder Chris McDuffie. “They’ll seal and wax the floors, put in the ceilings and lights, add all the shelving and coolers, and be ready to open up in January.”
A grand opening is tentatively scheduled for Jan. 13, 2017.
