SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A new location began offering free COVID testing to the public this week.
Most clinics, urgent cares, and pharmacies providing free COVID testing have seen patients and wait times soar over the winter season due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant.
Now, if you or someone you know is in need of a test, the former Living Word Church building located on U.S. Highway 280 will have a drive-thru testing center set up throughout the week. The church is stationed in between Mama Ree’s Restaurant and Ponder Plumbing.
All tests are free, and you can receive a test any time Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Two types of tests are available. You can choose from a rapid test which typically gets your results back within the hour, or you can go with PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing which takes up to 48 hours but provides you with the most veritable results.
The tests are being conducted by Beech Tree Laboratories.
