SYLACAUGA, Ala. -A new area dialing code has been approved for the ‘205’ area which includes Birmingham and Tuscaloosa.
At&T made the announcement on Monday that the 659 area code will overlay the 205 area.
The current 205 area code will not change, and according to AT&T, the 659 will be used for additional phone numbers.
