SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Community Playhouse announced on Tuesday that Nemak will be a Designer’s Circle Producer for the February 2018 upcoming production of Tom Sawyer. SCP representative Amy McDonald was thrilled to receive the phone call from John Parrish, Nemak’s Human Resource Operations Senior Specialist, notifying her of the gift of $1,000.
There will be 14 performances of Tom Sawyer, including 6 school performances with over 1,000 students attending from and around Talladega County, many will be children of Nemak employees. Opening night will be Feb. 16 and the production will end with a matinee performance on Sunday, Feb. 25th. Nemak’s sponsorship will help underwrite the Tom Sawyer school shows.
The Sylacauga Community Playhouse seeks to provide theatrical education, experiences, and quality entertainment throughout the community by creating theatre arts opportunities for all ages. The Sylacauga Community Playhouse was started in the late 1970’s by board members Lois Fields, Maxye Veazey, and Dollie Roberts. In December 2014, the playhouse incorporated into a 501 (C)3 organization.
This past year’s performances include: Little Shop of Horrors, Disney’s Aladdin Jr., The Miracle Worker, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. 2017 Board Members are Melissa Garris, Janie Giddens, Patrick McDonald, Dan Nixon, and Sherry G. Vickers.
