SYLACAUGA, Ala. – More charges have been brought against a Sylacauga man arrested for transmitting obscene material to children.

The Talladega County Sheriff’s Office arrested 50-year-old Paul Matthew Hutton Tuesday evening for allegedly transmitting obscene material to a child.

According to Hutton’s LinkedIn profile, it states he works in maintenance at Sylacauga City Schools. SylacaugaNews.com reached out to Sylacauga City Schools which confirmed Hutton’s employment. Superintendent Dr. Jon Segars told SylacaugaNews.com he is aware of the arrest and that Hutton is on administrative leave pending investigation.

TCSO responded to a call in Alpine on Feb. 21 regarding a juvenile female that Hutton had been transmitting obscene material to. After further investigation, TCSO confirmed there were more juvenile victims involved.

Hutton has also been charged with sodomy 2nd degree and two counts of sexual abuse 2nd degree. Both are Class B felonies.

His bond total is set at $70,000.

SylacaugaNews.com reached out and confirmed Hutton was a member of Estelle Community Church, where he was involved with youth. The church did not offer a statement at this time.
