SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Miss Sylacauga Fishing Tournament, scheduled for Saturday, June 24, has been postponed due to a lower-than-expected turnout.
Organizers are currently working to announce a new date for the event which is sponsored by the Sylacauga Parks and Recreation.
The tournament, aimed at funding scholarships for the participants of Miss Sylacauga and Miss Sylacauga’s Outstanding Teen, was set to take place at Lay Lake, with Beeswax Landing serving as the launch point.
Previously, interested participants had the option to pre-register on MissSylacauga.com or register on the day of the tournament. A maximum of 50 boaters was allowed, and the top three winners were to receive assured payouts of $1,500, $750, and $500, respectively. An additional category, the Big Fish, required a separate entry fee of $20.
