SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Miss Sylacauga 2026 Megan Malloy recently met with Gov. Kay Ivey during February’s Proclamation Day on Thursday, Feb. 19, highlighting her work as an advocate for students with dyslexia.
Malloy serves as an official junior ambassador for Alabama Game Changers, a medical center focused on academic resilience and success. Through her platform, “Megan’s Mission,” she raises awareness about dyslexia and the importance of early intervention.
A freshman at Auburn University, Malloy is a member of the Tiger Eyes Danceline. She previously competed at Miss Volunteer Alabama Teen, where she was named second runner-up, and has also participated in the Miss Alabama Teen organization. Malloy trained for 15 years as a competitive dancer, studying ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical.
Malloy said her advocacy is rooted in her personal experience.
Dyslexia affects an estimated one in 10 students, according to advocates, and early identification can significantly improve learning outcomes. Malloy emphasizes that dyslexia is not a disease but a difference in how the brain processes language.
Through Megan’s Mission and her role with Alabama Game Changers, Malloy hopes to encourage families to seek quality interventions and to empower students to embrace their learning differences.
