Marble City Pharmacy unveiling drive-thru, remodeled building with ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Marble City Pharmacy will officially reveal its newly renovated building as well as an operational drive-thru window with a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony next Monday, Dec. 12.

In June, Marble City Pharmacy moved into a temporary location as the renovation process began. The decision to revamp the pharmacy was one co-owner Jared Johnson thought was a long time coming.

“I’d say in the last two years, we’ve been seriously thinking about [remodeling],” Jared Johnson noted. “We had a good 19 years in our original location. We had 4,000-square feet that really served our purposes for a long time.”

However, due to an increase in customer needs along with the success of the gift department, Jared and his brother Jacob saw the need to expand.

The Johnsons bought the space next to the current location. Five months and 2,000 extra square feet later, they celebrated Marble City Pharmacy’s soft reopening on Monday, Dec. 5.

Jared pointed out that many of his customers in the past have expressed their desire for a drive-thru window, and the need for an additional avenue to engage with customers became obvious.

From mothers with sick children to the elderly to those too ill to want to get out of their pajamas, the importance of serving customers while keeping them as comfortable as possible was imperative to Jacob and Jared.

“Now that we have a drop-off window, two pick-up registers, and a drive-thru, there’s no waiting anywhere,” said Jacob Johnson. “It’s perfect.”

The drive-thru will utilize the pharmacy’s ongoing operating hours of 8:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

Although Marble City Pharmacy is already seeing customers, they’ll enjoy an official grand opening next Monday starting when the business opens at 8:30 a.m.

The first 100 customers will receive a gift bag filled with lots of goodies on any purchase. Plus, contents from Chala, Inis, Naked Bee, and Kendra Scott can be received as gifts with purchase.

“We’re the only ones in Sylacauga and the surrounding area that have [Kendra Scott products],” said Teresa Crow, gift merchandiser and customer service specialist at Marble City Pharmacy. The Kendra Scott jewelry line comes into the store with the new renovations.

For Jared and Jacob, it’s an occasion that they’ve been working towards since the pharmacy opened on May 27, 2003, almost 20 years ago.

“We’ve been very fortunate,” said Jared. “Sylacauga has given and given to us. We’re not originally from here, but the people here have been so good to us. They’ve trusted us with their healthcare all these years. We call it the ‘Marble City Family.’ Because of them, we’re able to do this.”
