SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A Sylacauga man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon.
Just after 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Sylacauga Police responded to a call of shots fired on the 200 block of S. Wetumpka Ave. When Sylacauga Police arrived to the scene it found 67-year-old Jerry Ray DeLee, who lived on S. Main Ave., dead on the scene with a gunshot wound in the upper torso.
Officers were able to take one person of interest into custody near the scene of the shooting. The unnamed person of interest is being held on several unrelated charges while SPD investigates.
This case will be turned over to the Talladega County District Attorney’s office as soon as Monday.
SPD is asking anyone with information to contact the department.
