Man dies following traffic stop and narcotics investigation in Sylacauga

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A Sylacauga man has died following a Wednesday night traffic stop in the Fairmont area.

According to the Sylacauga Police Department, the incident also led to a narcotics investigation and a TASER deployment following a physical altercation with the officer and foot pursuit after the driver ran.

Twenty-five year-old Ladarius Dontrell Jackson was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center’s emergency room by the Sylacauga Ambulance Service where he later died.

SPD has asked the State Bureau of Investigation to thoroughly investigate the events leading to Jackson’s death.
