Man arrested in Goodwater after eluding police in January high-speed chase

GOODWATER, Ala. – Last Friday, April 7, a man that earlier this year escaped Coosa County authorities’ grasp was caught and arrested.

Coosa County officials received a tip last Friday that Alan Sandlin, Jr. had been spotted at an apartment complex in the Goodwater area.

In an incident in late January, police engaged in a high-speed pursuit of Sandlin, Jr. during which he allegedly brandished a firearm and attempted to steal a juvenile’s phone. At the time, Sandlin, Jr. was able to evade Coosa County police.

During his arrest on Friday, officers found Sandlin, Jr. to be in possession of over a pound of marijuana, a Glock from Georgia that was reported stolen with an illegal switch, a red dot scope, and over $4,000 in cash.

Sandlin, Jr. was taken into custody with outstanding warrants and transported to the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Sandlin, Jr. will now face multiple charges in Coosa County including Possession of Marijuana in the First Degree, Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Pistol, and Receiving Stolen Property in the Second Degree.
