ROCKFORD, Ala. – On Saturday, July 2, a Wetumpka man was placed under arrest on multiple charges after he was caught speeding through Rockford.
Over the holiday weekend, Coosa County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Deputy DeAndre Scott pulled over a vehicle after he clocked it going 94 miles per hour through the town.
The incident qualified as reckless driving, but that was just the beginning for the driver of the motor vehicle.
Rodriguez Donta Edwards, of Wetumpka, was behind the wheel of the speeding car, and during the course of the traffic stop, Deputy Scott along with Deputy Bradberry and members of the Rockford Police Department discovered plenty more during the vehicle’s search.
Scott and his fellow officers found two firearms as well as over 51 grams of marijuana, weight scales, and other drug paraphernalia.
Edwards was then arrested for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, first-degree possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
After spending one day in jail, Edwards was released after his $10,000 bond was posted.
