SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A Sylacauga man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly breaking into a Sylacauga business for the second time in just over a month.
The Sylacauga Police Department released on Monday that 43-year-old Joseph Secoy Burns was arrested on Saturday night after he was found inside of a business on 1st St. after the owner’s, Bob Green, was notified by his security system someone was inside of his building.
SPD said Green was able to get officers into the building quickly where Burns was found hiding underneath a desk in the building.
Green informed SPD after Burns was discovered that he was the same man that broke into the building on Nov. 9.
Burns was transported to the Talladega County Metro Jail on misdemeanor charges and a hold was placed for SPD investigators so that warrants for the two burglaries could be obtained from the Talladega County District Attorney’s Office.
Burglary 3rd Degree is a Class C Felony and is punishable by incarceration from 1 year and 1 day to 10 years in prison, and up to $15,000 fine for each charge.
