SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Flu season has hit with over 100 confirmed positive flu cases throughout the state of Alabama.
According to the Center of Disease Control (CDC), the 2017-2018 flu season reached a record-breaking high of hospitalization rates and positive flu tests. The CDC reported 30,429 laboratory-confirmed flu-associated hospitalizations from Oct. 1, 2017, through April 30, 2018 and over 35,000 positive flu tests. Due to the rapid increase of positive flu cases, Governor Kay Ivey declared a state of emergency for the state of Alabama.
