SHELBY COUNTY – Former Ditsy Daisy owner Michelle Butts was arrested Thursday in connection to a fire that destroyed the former business in Chelsea late last year.

Shelby County jail records show Butts was booked and released from the Shelby County Jail in the same day posting a $25,000 total bond on two charges: 2nd Degree Arson (business) ($15,000) and 1st Degree Criminal Mischief (damage to business property) ($10,000).

After the Ditsy Daisy burned, Butts became the store manager at Mercantile on Broadway in Sylacauga.

“We support her…and we love her,” said Mita Guy, owner of Mercantile. “Our hearts are broken at the accusations. We know she didn’t do this and it’s part of the process. At this time we would really appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers.”

Butts’ stepfather, Terry Parnell was also arrested and released on Thursday with a charge of Hindering Prosecution. He posted a $10,000 bond.
