SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Last weekend was one to remember for the Sylacauga Pre-Teen Dance Twirl Team.
On Saturday, the team, captained by coach Jessica Coleman (majorette coach for the Auburn Tigers), competed for the first time at Thompson High School in Alabaster.
125 teams competed in 48 divisions. The Sylacauga girls performed in the Pre-Teen Divisions of Open Small Dance, STATE Small Dance and First Time Small Dance. The girls scored First Place in First Time Small Dance Twirl, and scored Second Place in both Open Small Dance Twirl and STATE Small Dance Twirl.
Team members are Maggie Forbus, Mary Grace Segars, Camilla Friday and Natalie Frost.
Now the team will advance to Wetumpka for a chance to win a Regional title on April 13. They will also showcase their talents on April 16 at 6 p.m. at the Sylacauga Park and Recreation Center.
Admission is a canned good for the Sylacauga Care House or a monetary donation for disaster relief in Lee County.
For any girls who would like to participate, pre-registration and auditions will be on May 16 at the Park and Recreation Center.
