In winter fashion, similar trends were evident between Buttons & Bows and Lou Belles clothing stores located in downtown Sylacauga. This season, short boots, otherwise known as “booties,” are very popular and a best seller. Shawls and ponchos have risen in popularity and faux fur vests are at the top of many women’s Christmas list. When it comes to jewelry, chokers are in and are great gifts for any young woman in your life.
Buttons & Bows employee Sydney Murphy said floral patterns have crossed over from fall to winter and bell bottoms have resurged.
Employees at Lou Belles noticed a popularity of fringe on all pieces of clothing. Employee Rhonda Vincent mentioned a popularity in initials on jewelry and the normal winter trend of scarves.
Magnolias Gift Shop on Broadway also weighed-in on popular selling items within their store. Employees Karen Harris and Madeline Bellmire explained how Corkcicle canteens and tumblers come in a variety of colors and are a great gift to give anyone in your family…especially the coffee lovers. Small wallets are a top seller in the store specifically the Hobo brand. For those who love scented candles, they recommend the top selling candle brand Swan Creek. If you’re looking to buy more expensive gifts this holiday season, they say Sorrelli jewelry is a great gift.

Scott King, manager of Griffins Jewelers, told SylacaugaNews.com yellow gold is making a comeback from white gold. “All gold is yellow,” said King, “White gold is yellow gold mixed with nickel and rose gold is yellow gold mixed with copper.”
