TALLADEGA COUNTY, Ala. – Seven local schools earned the 2021 Best Hustle Award from nonprofit organization Alabama Possible for their achievement in helping students seek financial aid.
In total throughout the state, 213 schools met the standard for the award. In order to receive the accolade, a school had to raise their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion by 10 percent since the beginning of the FAFSA cycle which began on October 1.
The schools in the county that met the requirement include B.B. Comer Memorial High School, Fayetteville High School, Lincoln High School, Munford High School, Sylacauga High School, Talladega High School, and Winterboro High School.
According to Alabama Possible, “any student seeking federal or state financial aid – including grants, loans, and work-study programs – must complete the FAFSA.”
By the end of 2021, more than 13,000 high school seniors in Alabama had finished applying for FAFSA, and Alabama ranks third in the nation in application percentage change from last year to this year.
