SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Talladega County and Sylacauga City school systems are once again teaming with the Sylacauga Alliance for Family Enhancement (SAFE) for the annual Back-to-School Supply Drive and Distribution Day.
“The start of a new school year is an exciting time filled with great anticipation and hope. We believe that every child should start the school year prepared and have the supplies they need to be successful. Your donation of new school supplies will help students get the year started off right,” explained a flyer from the community coalition.
Donations are being accepted at Walmart on Friday, July 27, Saturday, July 28, & Wednesday, Aug. 1 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. as well as at the SAFE Family Services Center through Aug. 1.
Requested items for the drive include mesh, clear or regular backpacks; composition notebooks; three ring binders; loose leaf paper (college and wide-ruled); No. 2 pencils; blue or black pens; colored pencils; 24 count crayons; two-pocket folders with brads; plastic pocket folders without brads; markers; scissors; glue sticks and bottles; earbuds/headphones; pencil pouches with zippers; copy paper; divider tabs; protector sheets; highlighters; rulers; and cap erasers. Monetary donations will also accepted.
Distribution Day will be held from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 3 in Noble Park in Sylacauga. Children must be present for parents to obtain school supplies.
