COLUMBIANA, Ala. – Arts and crafts meets nautical nonsense this Saturday, Aug. 26, as the Lay Lake Boat Club’s Cardboard Boat Regatta will make waves at Beeswax Park in Columbiana from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The regatta, also known as a boat race, along with the events around it promises a day of family-friendly fun, all while supporting a good cause.
A portion of the event’s proceeds will be dedicated to the Sylacauga Animal Shelter, offering a helping hand to local furry friends in need. Sponsored by Stephanie Millard of eXp Realty, the regatta is set to be a splash hit.
Live music by Steven Lane will accompany the event, and an array of food trucks will be on-hand as well as the Ice Cream Boat docked nearby.
Cardboard boat races are a creative construction challenge. Competitors craft boats using corrugated cardboard, glue, duct tape, and paint, with ingenuity as their only limit.
