FAYETTEVILLE, Ala. – The Fayetteville Wolves hosted the Childersburg Tigers in baseball on Monday night, April 1, and it was really a tale of two games.

Neither team was going to show their best pitching or their whole hand with each of them having key area contests later this week.

The Tigers got the scoring started early in the top of the first with Parker Dennis walking and pushing a run across the plate. Then, Manny Olague singled to drive in two more, and the Wolves found themselves trailing with their first at-bat next.

The Wolves scored one run in the bottom of the first to make it a 3-1 lead for Childersburg Head Coach Will Donahoo and his Tigers after one inning.

The biggest change, though, came in the bottom of the fifth for Coach Matt Collier and the Wolves as they scored eight times in one inning. They garnered four hits and took advantage of the two Tiger errors. Ashton Donahoo had a big hit in the inning with the bases loaded, driving in three.

Chase Price, Manny Olague, Payton Tanner, Tyler Pope, and Parker Dennis all gathered hits for the Tigers while Kai Tubbs, Alex Barnett, Blake McDaniel, Ashton Donahoo, Collin Roland, Brenton Cantrell, and Cam Hammonds pushed runs across the plate for the Wolves.

Tyler Bryant, Patten Oakes, and Cam Estelle all took to the hill for Childersburg while Braydon Williams and Blake McDaniel threw for the Wolves.

In the end, the Wolves claimed the victory with a final score of 9-5.

Childersburg will travel to Dadeville for one game on Wednesday. Coach Donahoo said, “If we can somehow get two wins of the three against Dadeville, we will be in the playoffs.”

The Tiger Sports Network will carry Thursday’s two games against Dadeville from Garland Justice Field starting at 4:30 p.m. on KiX 100.3.

Coach Matt Collier’s Fayetteville Wolves also have key games in the area against Westminster this week.
