ALEXANDER CITY, Ala – The Lake Martin Innovation Center will host an information session on Thursday, Nov. 9 from 12-1 pm for people interested in participating in the Auburn Regional Alabama Launchpad Startup Competition. The Information Session will be held at the Innovation Center, located at 175 Aliant Parkway next door to USAmeriBank’s Highway 280 location.
The Auburn Regional Alabama Launchpad Competition is part of the popular state-wide Alabama Launchpad, a program of the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama (EDPA) Foundation. The purpose of the Auburn Regional Alabama Launchpad startup competition is to promote and reward high-growth, innovative ventures that have the potential to grow and have a positive impact on economic development and job growth in the following five counties of Alabama: Lee, Chambers, Macon, Russell and Tallapoosa. The competition is for new, independent ventures in the pre-seed, seed, startup or early-growth stages, or for the expansion of an existing business into a new high-growth market.
Leading the information session will be Auburn University’s LaKami Baker, Ph.D., Managing Director of the Lowder Center for Family Business and Entrepreneurship in the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business. Dr. Baker will be joined by Phil Dunlap of the Auburn University Research & Technology Foundation and Andrea Mitchell with the City of Auburn.
“We’re very excited to partner with Auburn University, the City of Auburn and the EDPA to give residents of Alexander City and the Lake Martin area a chance to learn about this wonderful opportunity,” said Alexander Chamber of Commerce President & CEO, Ed Collari. “Economic development though entrepreneurship and business startups continues to be a key area of emphasis for us here at the Chamber and something that we feel is very important in building a strong business climate in Tallapoosa County and the Lake Martin region. This is a great chance for new, growing or expanding businesses to come learn about participating in what could be a very rewarding experience.”
The information session is free to attend and lunch will be provided. Email [email protected] to RSVP or call the Alexander City Chamber of Commerce with any questions at (256) 234-3461.
