Lady Tigers claim 2A Area 8 basketball title

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The B.B. Comer Lady Tigers basketball team defeated the Vincent Yellow Jackets 54-39 on Thursday night to claim their first area championship in school history.

“This win was great for our girls basketball program, for our athletic program, for our school, and community represented through these girls,” said head coach Michael Hale. “These seniors haven’t been looked at as winners since they were seventh graders, and their work and patience has finally paid off.”

This is the first area championship in school history, and second time ever in the playoffs.

“I want to thank my assistant coach, Coach Etheridge for her help, my girls for putting up with me, and their parents for allowing me to push and motivate their girls the best I can,” said Hale.

The Lady Tigers will be back on their home court, as they host the first round of the playoffs on Monday.
