CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Make plans to attend the annual Grits Festival at Kymulga Grist Mill and Park on Saturday, May 2, for a day of family-friendly activities and community support.
Organizers say this year’s fundraiser carries added importance as proceeds will help fund repairs to the Kymulga Covered Bridge and the building housing the park store. Both the covered bridge and the grist mill are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
In addition to the historic attractions, the park features more than eight miles of scenic walking trails. Festival hours are 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with free shuttle buses running every 20 minutes between the park and the Childersburg Recreation Center on First St. SW.
The event will include shopping at the Kymulga Park Store and more than 40 vendors offering arts, crafts, and other unique items. Food options will include shrimp and grits, roasted corn, and boiled peanuts – plus burgers and hot dogs prepared at the Mayor’s Grill House.

If you’re interested in joining the line-up of vendors, you need to contact Gaye Powell at (865) 603-1036. Space is limited.
