Job fair brings hope to hundreds following Legacy Cabinets closure

TALLADEGA, Ala. – There is renewed hope for hundreds of workers who lost their jobs following the closure of Legacy Cabinets’ manufacturing facility in Eastaboga, thanks to a private job fair held at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in Talladega.

Legacy Cabinets permanently closed its Eastaboga operation earlier this month, leaving hundreds of employees without work and ending more than three decades of business in the community. Workers were informed on Saturday, June 6 that the company had ceased all operations at its facility on Legacy Blvd., making it their final day of employment.

Facing uncertainty about their futures, many former employees said they felt encouraged after attending the job fair, which was organized with assistance from the Alabama Department of Workforce and the Talladega County Economic Development Authority.

“We’re there to help be a solution provider for them – to give them an opportunity for a new career path or maybe to advance their career path,” said Chance Jones of Central Alabama Community College.

For many attendees, the event offered more than employment opportunities. It provided a renewed sense of optimism, along with access to resources, career options, and pathways toward a more secure future.
