SYLACAUGA, Ala. – January 12 has been designated as National Pharmacist Day.
The role of pharmacists is to fill prescriptions for doctors to give to patients as well as advising health care providers on the selection and dosages of prescriptions.
Pharmacists have become an integral part of the healthcare system, and there’s been a dramatic increase in people seeking out the profession in the last twenty years.
From 2001 to 2020, the listing of practicing pharmacists in the U.S. has grown from 91,000 to 315,000 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics.
Pharmacists have also seen their roles and work hours increase since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
