It’s Arm-Wrestlemania! Childersburg Parks and Rec to host state tournament on Saturday, Aug. 12

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – A unique event is coming to the Childersburg Parks and Recreation next Saturday, Aug. 12, as the Alabama State Sit-Down Armwrestling Championship will take place, starting at 1:00 pm.

The event will feature participants in various classes, including Open, Masters, Women, and Amateur, competing in both left and right-hand categories.

Weigh-ins will be held on Friday, Aug. 11, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The entry fee for Open, Masters, and Women is $30, while the Amateur entry fee is $20.

Participants in Open Classes will be grouped into six classes based on weight categories ranging from under 154 pounds up to over 243 pounds with new classes after every 20 pounds.

Amateur and masters will have three classes: 0-198 pounds, 199-220 pounds, and over 221 pounds. For the Ladies, two classes will be separated at 0-161 pounds and over 162 pounds.

Additionally, a special division titled the “Pete Royal Legends” class for competitors aged 70 years and above with a weight limit of 165 pounds will be available.

Spectators can enjoy the tournament without an admission fee, and food trucks as well as concessions will be on-hand for refreshments throughout the event.
