SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Answers to many questions about the Class of 2020 still loom. Will they get to have a prom? Will they get to experience a graduation ceremony like the classes before them did? Will the athletes get to have a senior night? These are just a few of the many things seniors and parents are questioning.

While the loss of lives being the most devastating losses that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought upon the country, along with job losses and loss of what was once considered normal, high school senior student-athletes have been a tremendously affected group due to school closures.

As local high school softball teams gathered in Lincoln for day two of the annual Talladega County Tournament, little did any of the seniors know that the mid-March Saturday would be the very last time they would represent their school on the field. Two days later their season, as with all high school sports, was suspended and officially canceled in late March.

While some will move on to play at the college level, for most, the playing days are over. However, as this chapter in these senior’s lives come to an end, a new one begins.  Listed below are the local seniors and their future educational plans.
