CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – An economic development announcement highlighted a very positive Childersburg City Council meeting, as Mayor Ken Wesson introduced Jennifer Gallups as the owner of a new business coming to downtown Childersburg, “Working with our Commercial Development Authority, she is excited to be bringing a new location for her established business, Heavenly Grounds to our city.”
Gallups said that Heavenly Grounds is a lot more than a cup of coffee, having continually added new fare to their line-up in the three years they have been in business, “We have a strong following during lunch -my specialty is my chicken salad – with more to come, and our new breakfast menu has made morning our busiest time. We are excited about this new location. We’ve been overwhelmed with the support we have been given.”
Heavenly Grounds will open soon at the corner of 1st and 8th in the former J&J Drug building. Renovations are scheduled to begin over the weekend. Monty Powell, President of the Childersburg Commercial Development Authority added that they are thrilled with this new addition for the downtown business community, “We fully expect this to set a new standard for downtown Childersburg as we look to create a business district that will become a destination in and of itself.”
The Council opened the business portion of their March 6th meeting with a Proclamation honoring 2018 Miss Childersburg, Annie Ozment and her work on her pageant platform, Alabama Childhood Food Solutions, “Feeding My friends.”
Also honored was the Childersburg Fire Department for their contributions to the Muscular Dystraphy Association fund-raising, as well as their “Golden Axe” award from the MDA.. Erin Franklin of the MDA was on hand for the presentation.
