SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Whether you live in Sylacauga or a city nearby, there are plenty of events to get you ready for the Christmas season.
On Nov. 19, Childersburg’s Butler-Harris-Rainwater House will be hosting Photos with Santa from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A sitting time can be reserved at Geri’s Gifts. Renasant Bank Christmas Open House will be held on Dec. 15 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. They will be baking sugar cookies and have a decorating station where children can decorate their cookies. The final event in Childersburg for the holiday season is Reason for the Season on Dec. 16. Different choirs and bands will be performing at Grace Baptist Church for this benefit event. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and admission is a boxed or canned food item to be donated to local food banks.
Rockford will have the first Christmas parade this year. The parade will be on Dec. 1 at 6:00 p.m. If you would like to participate in the parade, forms can be sent in to the Events Committee until Nov. 29. Information about submitting participation forms can be found here. The next Christmas parade will be on Dec. 9 in downtown Sylacauga. The theme this year is Merry Christmas Sylacauga and will start at 5:30 p.m. The last parade for surrounding areas will be in Talladega on Dec. 15 at 6:00 pm. Forms to participate can be sent in until Dec. 11 and can be found here.
Talladega will also be having its Christmas Open House, starting this Thurs., Nov. 16 until Nov. 18 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Shabby Sheek, Crimson Gypsy, TB Turner Design, LMO & Co., Shear Studios, The Daily Grind, and The Square Cup are all participating. The Heritage Hall Museum will host the Holiday Market where you can shop local for the holidays. This will begin on Nov. 21 and go through Dec. 23. The museum will be open from from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays.
On Dec. 2 in Clay County, Clay County Christian Academy will be hosting the Christmas Bazaar. Vendor space is $20, but there is no cost to the public. The event will be from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. where you will be able to buy arts, crafts, gifts, and more. Also on that day in Lineville City Park, Clay County will have Christmas in the Park. There will be crafts for kids, pictures with Santa, a live nativity, and carolers throughout the day. This event will be from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and vendor space is available. There will be a tree lighting at 4:45 p.m.
Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind Senior Services will be sponsoring Santa’s Health and Safety Fair at Oxford Civic Center where health screenings, health education, food/toy drive, singalongs and more will be offered. Chief Meteorologist from ABC 33/40, James Spann, will be the guest speaker. This event will be from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. For more information, contact Service Coordinator, Tabitha Royal.
Sylacauga has several events happening this Christmas season starting with Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 2 from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in the Sylacauga High School lunchroom. Donations will be accepted and will go towards the Sylacauga City Schools Foundation. B.B. Comer Memorial Library will host Songs of the Season on Dec. 15 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the Harry I. Brown Auditorium. Guests will be entertained by Robin Lewis, Chris Phillips, and Virginia Phillips singing holiday specials. Refreshments will be served. There will also be the Christmas parade in Sylacauga, mentioned earlier.
