SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce has announced dual Grand Marshals for Thursday night’s 44th annual Christmas Parade.
The parade, which will go through downtown Sylacauga starting at 6:00 p.m., will be marshaled by Jesse and Priscilla Cleveland along with the coaches and players of the B.B. Comer High School football team.
Jesse and Priscilla Cleveland are considered integral pieces of Sylacauga’s history and future. The Clevelands are both former educators that pursued new career opportunities committed to the growth of Sylacauga upon retirement from education.
Jesse and Priscilla both serve on a number of boards and authorities sharing their expertise and vision for the future. Priscilla was recently chosen as the 2022 Sylacauga Area Woman of the Year at the ConnectHER Women’s Conference held at First Baptist Church in October.
Joining the Clevelands as grand marshals are the players and staff of the 2022 B.B. Comer High School football team led by Head Coach Adam Fossett.
This past Friday, the Tigers competed in the Class 2A finals at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn for the state title. Although they finished runner-up to Fyffe, Comer still boasted with a 12-3 final record and a region championship.
The success of this group of 40 young men and their leaders allowed the Sylacauga community to come together in a much needed way.
In addition to the successful season, Coach Fossett was chosen as the Class 2A Coach of the Year.
With over 75 entries, the Sylacauga Christmas Parade is an event expected to have an estimated attendance of over 1,000 people.
Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union is the Presenting Sponsor of the 44th annual Sylacauga Christmas Parade, and The Arc of South Talladega County is serving as the Grand Marshal Sponsor.
