MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Gov. Kay Ivey on Tuesday, July 1, announced that Alabama’s CHOOSE Act education savings accounts are fully funded and ready for the 2025-26 school year.
Families approved earlier this year can now access their funds through the ClassWallet platform to pay for school tuition, tutoring, educational therapies, and other qualifying expenses at approved education service providers.
“Our CHOOSE Act education saving accounts are officially ready to support thousands of Alabama families and students with their unique educational needs,” Ivey said. “In just the first year, our state’s ESA program is incredibly popular, providing opportunity, flexibility, and choice when it comes to our children’s education.”
Since applications opened in January, 36,873 students from every Alabama county have applied. More than 23,000 were approved, according to the Alabama Department of Revenue, which administers the program. That amounts to over $124 million in education funding.
Approved students enrolled in a participating school will receive $7,000 each. Those in a home education program will receive $2,000, with a $4,000 cap per family.
Families will receive a welcome email soon from ClassWallet with login instructions, usage guidance, and webinar information for additional support.
