Goodwater Police searching for hit-and-run suspect

GOODWATER, Ala. – The Goodwater Police Department (GPD) is currently searching for an at-large suspect.

At approximately 2:41 p.m. the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by the GPD about a law enforcement agent being struck by a motor vehicle.

Kytn Wentzell was being approached by two officers about an ongoing investigation when he abruptly left the scene in a tan Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck. As he fled, Wentzell struck an officer at a high rate of speed.

The officer suffered minor injuries, was transported to Russell Medical Center, and was later released.

This incident occurred on Coosa County Road 86 in the Goodwater area, and the officers later found the getaway vehicle abandoned.

Wentzell has not been located and is considered armed and dangerous. The GPD posted on Facebook that if “you are helping Kytn Wentzell, we will prosecute you with whatever the law will allow. This person attempted to hurt or cause death to an officer.”

If you have any information about the whereabouts of Wentzell, please contact the GPD at 256-839-6321.
