ROCKFORD, Ala. – Tax season can be confusing, and assistance can often be needed. To help you with the stress, the Coosa County Extension Office in Rockford will host and sponsor a tax assistance program throughout tax season.
The program, also sponsored by Volunteer Connections of Central Alabama, Inc., and the Coosa County Chamber of Commerce, will provide free tax assistance and electron filing of federal and state income tax forms by certified and trained tax preparers.
The Coosa County Extension, located directly behind the Coosa County Courthouse on Alabama Hwy. 22, will begin serving the community every Wednesday starting Feb. 21 until April 11. The office will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Sponsors are asking the public to arrive at the site with at least an hour before closing and to allow at least one hour for services to be completed.
Information you must bring to the Coosa County Extension Office includes:
- Last year’s tax return
- Photo ID for taxpayer and spouse
- Social security cards for taxpayers and dependents
- W-2’s; and 1099’s B, R, and SSA
- Employed taxpayers should bring a copy of their year-end pay stub
