FAYETTEVILLE, Ala. – Four young fishermen from Fayetteville High School have secured their spots in the prestigious Bassmaster High School National Championship taking place at Lake Hartwell, South Carolina next weekend.

The qualifying event, the Lay Lake Bassmaster High School Open, saw Alex Barrett and Davis Ray clinch an impressive third place finish, while John Brady Buttram and Cadence Barrett secured their qualification with a twelfth place finish.

Out of more than 240 participants, only the top 25 made the cut for nationals, highlighting the caliber of talent that gathered at Lay Lake.

Throughout the season, the pairs participated in various tournaments, securing an impressive total of 11 top-ten finishes. Their dedication and hard work have paid off, and they are eager to showcase their abilities at the national level.

Fayetteville High School invites the community to show support for these outstanding students at a farewell gathering on Saturday, July 22, at 9:00 a.m. at the school’s front office.
