Former Alabama Secretary of State offers support to enhance Sylacauga Police Department resources

SHARE NOW

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Recently, Mayor Jim Heigl expressed a desire to enhance law enforcement resources with the help of former Secretary of State John Merrill.

Merrill, who is now working with engineering firm Waggoner, had a conversation with the Mayor and presented a plan about how the City could increase law enforcement opportunities with the possible assistance from federal resources.

Should the City choose to adopt the plan, costs would be incurred that would bolster the city’s police presence and intelligence capabilities.

Merrill is scheduled to attend the next Sylacauga City Council meeting on Tuesday, March 19, to provide further insights into the opportunity.
