SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce welcomed the new business Flourish Salon & Aesthetics into the community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, May 31.
The new salon, located at 23 Brown Ave., is owned and operated by Kelsey Payton, and she is joined by two other cosmetologists, Alexis Hardiman and Meagan Vick, at Flourish.
“We wanted to keep our little circle small,” Payton expressed. “I like our family that we have here.”
Payton’s desire is to create a welcoming environment for all patrons of Flourish Salon & Aesthetics that is akin to the home-based salon of Truvy Jones from Steel Magnolias.
“That was my vision, it really was,” said Payton of the resemblance to the beauty parlor from Chinquapin Parish.
However, Flourish offers more than juicy gossip and hair layered with more character than Sally Field.
The new salon also has clothes for sale at affordable prices along with jewelry and other beauty accessories.
“We just decided that if we were going to do it, we were going to do it big,” Payton stated. “I would probably be up for anything somebody suggests.”
The Flourish trio’s goal is to establish relationships with their customers that go deeper than hair roots and last a lifetime.
“Your hair person is your person,” noted Payton. “It’s just hard to break that connection. It’s a friendship, and you become like family.”
